Saint Benedict’s College was privileged to host Liam Kelly (local author of the acclaimed Worried William book series) on Monday 17th December.
Liam delivered a presentation to our year 9 pupils about the personal worries and anxieties he experienced growing up and facilitated a discussion about the daily challenges of teenage life. Pupils took part in a poetry workshop which allowed our young people an opportunity to express their feelings in a safe and creative environment.
Later that evening Liam took time to facilitate a workshop for parents on the same theme of teenage mental health and well-being. This was a hugely important and informative session which offered parents a forum to discuss and learn about the worries and challenges their children face. The key message was the greatest gift you can give your child is your TIME!
Liam sponsored our year 8 PE kit to raise awareness of mental health and spread the message that no child should suffer in silence. The College was delighted to present Liam with a jersey on the day of his visit and we thank him for his generous spirit.
The College wishes Liam continued success with his book series and with his “series of worrying events” in 2019.
